Waiting for Spring

I originally wanted to use the cabochon as a suggestion of a tree's branches in winter. I didn't have the right greys and blacks to match it the way I wanted to, so I decided to go pyschedelic. I knew I had beads in florescent orange and pink, and I love them juxtaposed, so that choice was a natural.

This was going to be January's page, but I'm so tired of snow and ice that I found myself waiting for spring.

Today's quote comes from Robert L. Veninga: When one has faith that the spring thaw will arrive, the winter winds seem to lose some of their punch.

What a contrast between the stark black and grey to the brighter colors. I like it. I have a similar cab with two smaller ones as well. Hmmm.

I have to agree with your comment about a new community being formed here. I've noted that many artistic people need the support of others of their mindset. Is it our basic insecurities that need bolstering? I know mine do at times. It also helps to have others who appreciate the time and effort spent on a project critique it. It means so much more that just having someone say "Oh, that's pretty".

Love the colors!
We in Minnesota are soooooo tired of the bleakness of winter also. Makes me remember that someday we will see something other than the greys and whites of winter.
Great Page!

The contrast is super. It really throws you into a spring feeling leaving that cold, hard winter behind! Perfect page.

Any, I love what you did with these colors! A great contrast to that interesting "winter" cab.

My feeling about the BJP is that it helps us to grow and grow in our bead artwork and, then, get to share it with so many talented and interesting folks, too.

This piece is so springy, it's lovely and energizing.

Looking at the funky colours make me think of scientific illustrations of veins and arteries or maybe sap ; you captured the flow of life really well I think.

I just love this piece! It is so infused with hope that our gray wintry world will be filled with color again. Beautiful job.

Thanks, everyone for your kind comments. I have had a lot of people say that it looks like coral. I like the fact that it looks natural and like arteries (which I can now see.) That's what I was aiming for. I am so very weary of winter. Come on spring!
